P‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍art 1. : The first part of this 8 page paper will focus on describing the progression of this aspect of development over the course of birth to age 10. This paper should introduce operational definitions of the developmental skill/competency or set of competencies, why the skill or set of skills is important to later positive adaptation, and describe the progression of the development of this domain through middle childhood, including seminal studies and most recent research and thinking on the topic. Part 2. : The second 8 page part of the paper will address key mechanisms that support or constrain the development of the competency or set of competencies that students chose in Part 1. The paper should consider factors at different levels of children’s ecology, including biological, psychological, social, and societal processes and the interactions among them in your discussion. Please conclude with a synthesis of key learnings and gaps in our current knowledge. Make sure there are logical transitions between t‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍he two sections of the paper. Part 3. . The third 8 page part of the paper will address different programs, interventions, and/or policies that support positive trajectories in the developmental competency or set of competencies selected in Part I. Please review programs/interventions with a research base, describing the content of programs, their underlying theories of change, and key research findings regarding their efficacy. Make sure to discuss the populations with which the interventions/programs have been implemented/developed and critically discuss the extent to which they have been created and developed with/for and researched with diverse populations. Please conclude with what we are learning about best practices in supporting the competency/skill and where gaps in our understanding still exist.
