You need to forecast the outcome of the issue in-part using the research you completed as it relates to your midterm project. You will be expected to write a minimum of 5-page paper not including the reference page. Your “current event” topic MUST be tied into a HR related regulation. For example, sexual harassment and the Me Too movement, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and whether it will be overturned and how that will impact HR. Or, “ban the box,” discussion, future predictions and if you believe the practice will eventually be implemented by all fifty states. Choosing a topic that interest you is important. This will give you an opportunity to learn about a topic that is directly related to the field of current federal regulations as they relate to human resources management, which will greatly affect your knowledge of the industry. Your research should include the history of the topic and what lead to the current situation. For example, if you choose a topic that addres‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍s the current minim wage you should address the history of how minimum wage was created, the various ways it increased and why, what it is currently, what is the current debate (. increase to per hour), and why that debate is occurring, and what federal agency regulates that law. Most importantly you need to address what your predicted outcome. For example, you may state that you believe minimum wage will increase. You will then need to explain why you believe that minimum wage will increase and support you reasoning with research and references. .
